A two-day orientation was organised at Catholic University of Ghana at Fiapre in the Sunyani Diocese for 12 Religious Sisters who have been admitted to Catholic University of Ghana, and Berekum Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

The orientation held on October 5 and 6, 2024 is part of the Higher Education for Sisters in Africa (HESA) programme which falls under the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) to orient the Sisters on what is expected of them as HESA sisters and how to manage their time in school.

The HESA programme is a sub-programme under the ASEC scholarship programmes to offer opportunities for African Sisters to further their education in tertiary institutions affiliated to ASEC.

These Sisters who are from different religious congregations across West Africa have the opportunity to offer programmes in the above mentioned institutions to help them acquire more knowledge and skills in their various ministries or apostolates.

Sr. Martha Attakurah, SHCJ, the ASEC Programmes Coordinator for Ghana during her delivery briefed the Sisters about HESA – ASEC and also encouraged the sisters to study hard to make themselves, their Congregation, and ASEC proud.

Mr. Vincent Amankona, a lecturer at Catholic University, and a facilitator during the programme, in his presentation on Time Management and Effective Learning Skills, encouraged the Sisters to learn to balance their time well by properly prioritising their activities so that they would be able to have quality time for their studies on campus.

He also added that they form or join study groups that would help them I’m their studies.

The Sister participants received laptops provided by ASEC to help facilitate their studies in school.
