On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, paid a heartfelt visit to the Fr. Campbell SVD Foundation at the Weija Leprosarium.
His visit formed part of a nationwide effort to engage with beneficiaries of the GEOP LOT 7B Project—a World Bank-funded initiative championed by the Ministry of Education to reach Ghana’s most vulnerable youth.
GEOP, the Ghana Education Outcomes Project, is transforming lives by bringing education to out-of-school children and youth—especially those who have lived on the streets.
Through foundational learning, life skills, and training pathways, GEOP is giving these young people a second chance at life.
The Fr. Campbell Foundation stands as a beacon of hope within the project—offering structure, care, and opportunity to young people aged 15 to 18, many of whom have endured homelessness and hardship.
In a deeply moving moment during the visit, some Learners bravely shared their personal stories—narratives of sleeping rough, going days without a bath, and eating from garbage bins.
Their testimonies were powerful reminders of the resilience of the human spirit and the urgent need for inclusive, compassionate education.
Minister Haruna Iddrisu reaffirmed the Ministry’s full commitment to these youth, assuring them that no child will be left behind.
He emphasized that the journey does not end here—plans are underway to transition graduates into apprenticeships and vocational training to ensure they are equipped for a life of independence, dignity, and success.
The Fr. Campbell SVD Foundation expresses profound gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the World Bank, and all partners who continue to believe in the potential of these young people.
Together, we are rewriting stories—from the streets to a future full of hope and promise.
