Classical Music Lovers in Accra for a treat on Friday, January 9

On Friday, January 9, at 6:00 PM, the British Council Hall on Liberia Road, Accra, will open its doors to acclaimed concert pianist George François.

Dr. George Francois is a pianist, composer, arranger, producer, organist, music director, and Professor at Ashesi University.

He holds music degrees from the University of Ghana, Legon, the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, U.K., the University of Texas at Austin, and Stony Brook University.

An alumnus of The Juilliard School in New York City, he has performed as a classical pianist in the United Kingdom, the United States, and in the Caribbean.

On Friday evening, he returns to the British Council Hall, where his first-ever piano teacher, Mrs. Grace Nartey of blessed memory, introduced him to the Ghanaian public at the tender age of seven.

He will perform a powerful solo programme of works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt.

This benefit concert is organized by the New Horizon Special School and La Foundation for the Arts (LAFA) to raise funds to support Educational and Art Therapy programmes.

The New Horizon Special School was founded in 1972 by the late Madame Salome Anyorkor François and has been an institution focused on special education in Ghana for 53 years.

LAFA is a non-profit organization dedicated to artistic excellence and cultural preservation.

They have partnered with the New Horizon Special School to empower underrepresented communities.

Tickets for this concert are priced at GHc500 and can be purchased via the short code *714*11*22#.
