We grew up to call you by different pet names
The competition was keen to see which one is universally
From there, we established the fact that a pet is cared for and respected
Day in day out, we identified your likes and dislikes
A frown indicated disapproval accompanied by corrections no matter the form
A smile regardless of the season registered that you are proud of your efforts
Silence most of the time was to navigate through the temperaments you have brought forth
Maa!!! How skilled you are at being a psychiatrist because sometimes we exhibited madness
How skilled you are at being a psychologist to know our inner silence and shouts
You knew the sun will ensure success and so you gave us day
The night was handled by you with sobbing and the way forward
You are the landlord who lend us your womb yet without rent
Still you ensure that beneficiary of your generosity do not slack
You see technology well with your daily calls of hope you are fine. Thanks Maa!
