Alakple R.C. Basic School Girls Educated on Menstrual Hygiene

To mark this year’s  International Menstrual Hygiene Day, Adolescent Girls in the Alakple R.C. Basic School in the Anloga District in Ghana’s Volta Region have educated on Menstrual Hygiene.
The education initiated by Mama Nyuiawovafe I and Mama Nyuiawomebor I, both  of Alakple  in collaboration with Young & Smart , Ghana.
All  menstruating girls also received donations of sanitary pads, antiseptics and packs of shaving sticks sponsored by the two queens.
The Young & Smart, Ghana team which is an NGO into Adolescent, Sexual
 and Reproductive Health based at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Weme – Abor led by Felix Deyegbe gave education to the girls and boys of the School on Changes in Adolescent, General Personal Hygiene.
They also educated the girls on What Is Menstruation and the Menstrual cycle, How to care for oneself during menstruation, Implications of poor menstrual Hygiene, How to manage painful menses and other abnormalities associated with Menstruation and Practical sessions on how to correctly wear a sanitary pad, how to remove a used pad and how to dispose it off approximately.
On May 28 every year, the world unite to educate young girls menstrual hygiene. Menstrual Hygiene Day brings together non-profits, governments, the private sector and millions of individuals.
The adolescents were so much grateful for the kind gesture as this will go a long way to ease the burden on  their parents for sometime.
