Some Catholic Sisters from various Religious Congregations in Ghana have ended their two and half month programme of sabbatical and continuous formation courses for growth, at the Institute for Continuing Formation (ICF) at Elmina-Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.
The programme which commenced on April 12, ended on June 25, 2024.
At a closing Mass, Rev. Fr. Joseph Blay, OFM Conv., urged the Sisters to be grateful that the Lord had counted them among the noble ones and they have become special vessels in the household of God.
“You have become precious people and so you should treat your own self as people without pride but as people with esteem and of great reputation,” he said.
He added that, they Sisters should be people who love justice and treat others as they would like others to treat them.
Justice, he noted, strives for equal treatment and equal opportunities and sisters are the ones to speak for the people who are being oppressed.
As they strive for a just society, Fr. Blay urged the Sisters to remember that it was not going to be easy fighting injustice but they have to stay strong and fight for what is right and in order to be able to create a world that is fair and just.
Bro. Emmanuel Affum, SVD, the Director of the Institute congratulated the Sisters for participating fully in the programme that was organised for them and completing successfully.
He encouraged the Sisters to be proud of themselves for the time they had invested and the effort to acquire new skills and knowledge.
He said it was now time for them to put everything they have acquired into practice and this will help them to forge ahead.
He admonished that, as they go back to their various communities and apostolates, they should strive hard to make a difference, make and impact and change lives.
Sr. Adeodataah Ahimbisibwe, DMJ, the Assistant Directress of the Institute, stated in her speech that sisters should see the good in every situation and focus on the positives. They should learn to let go of the many negatives around and embrace joy so that they can radiate the joy in them to others.
