Afadzato South District Holds Stakeholders Forum to Analyze 2020 BECE Results

Giving a comparative analysis of the 2019 and 2020 performance of the district in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the stakeholders said the district has improved from 64 to 73 per cent comparing the two results.

The analysis meant there was an improvement of nine per cent over the 2020 results, which placed the Afadzato South district first in the 2020 BECE ranking in the Volta region.

Dr Esther Yeboah-Agyemang, the District Director of Afadzato South said the education service in the district would ensure strict supervision, monitoring, and sanctioned non-performing teachers.

She said the district would mainstream more professional development programmes for teachers to enhance their skills.

The District Director said the district has targeted 100 per cent in the upcoming BECE.

She urged parents and guardians to show greater interest in the education of their children by making sure that they study at home and also by visiting the schools often to find out about their children’s performance.

She also called on school authorities to organise quizzes and debates to encourage competition among the students and continue with the organisation of mock examinations to help the district to maintain its first position in the upcoming BECE.

Dr Yeboa-Agyemang observed that teenage pregnancy comes as a result of poor homes children comes from and most of them cannot afford their basic needs making them victims.

She said gender Education officers would educate students about the dangers of teenage pregnancy to help prevent school dropout.
