A Lecturer at Catholic University of Ghana, Ms. Larrisa Agbomelo, has urged 21 Sisters from different Women Religious Congregations who recently graduated from the Catholic University to make themselves valuable to fulfill the purpose for which God sent them to School.
Speaking at a Party organised for the Sisters by the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC)-Ghana on October 26, 2024 at the Catholic University of Ghana, she asked them to ensure they balance their ministry with studies.
African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) is an organization with a proven capacity to strengthen, through education and empowerment, the unique potential of women religious in Africa to live in fulfillment of Christ’s mission. It serves as scholarship.
The party organised to congratulate the 21 Sisters who had been sponsored by ASEC and honoured with special awards. Most of them had 1st class and one being the overall best student for 2023/2024 academic year.
Sixteen Sisters from different Congregations were also welcomed into the University while 35 Sisters are continuing students.
Ms. Agbomelo who is French Tutor at the Catholic University congratulated the graduands for the 2023/2024 academic year and emphasized that University education was a means to an end, not an end in itself.
She encourage them to live their vocation better and achieve hidden visions, urging them to practice diligence, faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
“By practicing these things, they will be fruitful and please the Lord their Maker and Master,” she added, entreating the continuing students to remember the story of the 10 virgins and be wise, not foolish, in their chosen environment.
She cautioned them to be aware of the challenges they might face and respond positively to them, reminding them that balancing ministry with studies was crucial.
It is important to remember God has brought them here for a purpose and to touch lives around them, she added
Ms. Agbomelo urged the Sister students to never give up and do everything Christian to achieve their aim and vision.
Sr. Christiana Doggu, Provincial Superior of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), Ghana who represented the Conference of the Major Superiors in Ghana, congratulated the graduands for the good work done.
As the Sisters leave the grounds of this University to continue the pursuit of your dreams and aspirations, she entreated them to apply their acquired knowledge generously.
“Be witnesses of Christ’s love and truth, not of fake news but beacons of hope and unity in our society. Our goal is to win people for God’s kingdom,” she stated.
She further urged the continuing Sisters to let the graduation success of the 21 Sisters be an inspiration for them to also learn hard and correct their wrongs.
