The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra Archdiocese in Ghana Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp has cautioned Catholics to desist from provoking God with their acts.
In a Pastoral Letter to the lay faithful issued on Thursday, March 19, 2020, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, he cautioned them saying “Anytime we throw caution to the wind, believing that the Lord will take care of us, we are putting God to the test”.
He assured the lay faithful that he (the Archbishop), Priests and Religious care about them in these unusual times of Corona Virus Pandemic and continues to remain united with them in prayers nonetheless they should also be mindful of their actions.
Archbishop Kwofie also advised them to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures made known to the general public by the government and the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference.
“I encourage you to meticulously follow the social distancing precaution and prescriptions on personal hygiene not only for your sake but also for the sake of your neighbor whilst we remain persistent in prayer” he stated.
He also said the Church is abiding by the embargo placed on religious activities by the government to prevent more physical human contacts.
He announced that the Communications Department of the Archdiocese (DEPSOCOM) will stream Weekday Masses live on television at 6:30am, 12:30pm and Sunday Masses at 8:00am to be aired on Crystal TV Plus in collaboration with Lumen Christi Ghana including various online platforms.
“This is the time we need to strengthen our little Church thus our families, pray together and observe other devotions to grow in Faith not in Fear, for it is said the family that prays together, stays together,” he stated.
