Hon. Salisu Biawurbi, the Savannah Regional Minister, has expressed optimism in the 2025 Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference Plenary Assembly in Damongo, describing it as a “divine blessing” for the region.
According to the minister, the Catholic Church is a true partner in peacebuilding, moral transformation, and social progress.
He said, “The Catholic Church is not only a spiritual force; it changes lives, transforms minds, and impacts society.”

In his address at the opening of the 2025 Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Annual Plenary Assembly in Damongo, Hon. Biawurbi noted that the Church’s synodal meeting in the Savannah Region is “a sign of commitment to reaching beyond comfort zones to touch lives and transform communities.”
Hon. Salisu Biawurbi also commended the Bishops’ Conference for their theme, “A Synodal Church at the Service of Justice and Peace in Ghana”, citing its relevance to the region’s recent challenges with insecurity and ethnic tensions.
He revealed that displaced residents from the Bole Traditional Area conflict are returning home due to the successful peace process.

He added, “Life is returning to normalcy. We are working tirelessly to ensure that peace is restored completely, not through weapons, but through dialogue, understanding, and faith”.
Hon. Biawurbi also urged the Church to deepen its collaboration with the government in promoting peace, justice, and social harmony, stating, “The Catholic Church has the largest following in the Savannah Region. We count on you to help build bridges of peace and strengthen the values that unite us.”

He also invited the Church and private investors to see the region’s vast potential and invest in its growth.
“Savannah is a young region with great promise. Together, let us make it a beacon of peace and prosperity,” he noted.
