Accra Archdiocesan Christian Mothers Hold 2026 Lenten Recollection

Must read

Hundreds of Christian Mothers, Fathers, Sons, and Daughters from all eight Deaneries in the Archdiocese of Accra embarked on a Lenten recollection to seek the face of God and ask for blessings and continuous protection.

The day’s recollection at the St. Charles Lwanga Parish at Abeka, Accra, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, was on the theme: “Christian Mothers – Let Your Light Shine, So That God May Be Glorified” (Mathew 5:16) and was facilitated by Rev. Fr. Dominic Adjei, Priest in charge of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at Weija, Accra.

The programme started with praises and worship, Rosary prayers led by designated deaneries, and Stations of the Cross led by the retreat master.

Reflecting on the theme of the recollection, Fr. Adjei asked the Christian Mothers to let their light shine since they carry both spiritual and physical light.

He entreated them to let their relationships reflect Christ’s light, and this he noted could be done by showing kindness and generosity, sharing God’s word and love, modelling Christ-like behaviour, and using their gifts, knowledge, skills, and talents to serve and glorify God.

“Your good deeds and actions make God’s light visible, glorifying Him. We are His instruments and co-workers in his vineyard,” he told them.

Fr. Adjei admonished the Mothers, Fathers, Sons, and Daughters to let their light always shine wherever they found themselves.

The day was climaxed with a Holy Mass celebrated by the Spiritual Director of the Association, Rev Fr. Emmanuel Acheampong, Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Adenta, and concelebrated by Fr.  Adjei and Rev. Fr. Dodzi Gadessordji, Parish Priest of St. Anthony Catholic Church-Fishpond, who doubles as the spiritual Director for Kaneshie Deanery Christian Mothers’ Association.

The Archdiocesan President, Mother Eunice Kokui Dumashie, led all mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters to renew their pledge to show commitment to the Association.
