In order to build capacity and create wealth among the Catholic lay faithful, the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Laity Council (AACLC), powered by the Catholic Professionals Guilds (CPG), has initiated a platform to consciously and actively promote Catholic owned businesses.
According to a joint notice by AACLC and CPG seen by newswatchgh.com, the project would provide Catholic Entrepreneurs and Professionals the opportunity to display their products and services to the larger Catholic family.
It would also offer professional support to these businesses to better position them, the notice added.
Three major interventions penned down to be rolled out in this pursuit include Business Development Clinics, businesses, especially start-ups, would be offered professional help by way of the engagement of professional business development experts from the Business, Management and Finance Professionals Guild to coach such businesses with the view to putting them on a better pedestal.
This, the AACLC and CPG said would not be a one-off event but a continuous process which would be sustained as long as required to achieve the goals.
Another intervention is the Mini Business Fairs, which would be organised on Deanery basis in all the eight deaneries of the Archdiocese – Kpehe, Mamprobi, Kaneshie, Osu, Madina, Ashaiman, Tema, Battor- Ada- to offer opportunities to the businesses to showcase their products and services.
These fairs would eventually become the “go to Catholic Market” where all Catholics would be encouraged to go to patronise the products and services of fellow Catholics.
As part of the plans, a Business Seminar is scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2022.
Also in the offing is the annual May Day Games and Business Fair that is the mother of all the fairs to be organised as an Archdiocesan event.
It would also be an opportunity to have the various groups and societies in the Catholic Church in Accra to engage each other in fun games whilst socialising and networking on the feast of St. Joseph the Worker.
The date for this year’s May Day Games is Monday, May 2, 2022 at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra.
In order to successfully achieve the laity Business development project, the Accra laity Council and the Catholic Professionals Guild are appealing to all Catholic entrepreneurs or business owners to fill a form via this link https://forms.gle/uJMWb9c3Nrr51o2W9 which has been circulating social media to enable the Catholic Church promotes their businesses while a business directory is compiled.
