Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Laity Council Elections Rescheduled for February 2023

Must read

The Accra Archdiocesan Laity Council has postponed its December 2022 elections to February 2023.

According to President of the Council, Mr. Timothy Sowah, the move is to offer the various deaneries in the Archdiocese the opportunity to prepare adequately.

The election of officers was scheduled to take place on December 3 at the Annual Plenary of the Council but had to be rescheduled.

“I was expecting the elections to take place. Except that members are of the view that the numbers are not representative enough and some of the deaneries that are supposed to be part of the executive have not had their elections. It will not take long. Latest by February, we should be back to have the elections. That is what the Constitution says,” President of the Council, Mr. Timothy Sowah explained.

Every year, lay leaders in the Archdiocese come together to talk among themselves and to offer suggestions to move the laity council forward.

The 2022 edition took place on December 3 at the St. Paul’s Parish Hall, Kpehe with concerns of dwindling number of Catholics taking center stage of discussions.
