Rev. Fr. Aloysius Sunnuba, the Vocations Director of the Catholic Diocese of Wa in Ghana’s Upper West Region has asked Christians to follow Christ who is the light of the world.
In a homily at St. Francis Xavier Minor Seminary Chapel, Wa on Sunday, January 22, 2023 a day dedicated to the word of God, he said Jesus Christ is the word of God, He “is inviting us all to follow this light and also the light of the world.”
He added that Christ was inviting all to repent especially those who are possessed by the darkness of sin and evil. He said “we are all, one way or the other are holding up into an attitude that is not befitting as children of God.”
He advised the congregation to eschew attitudes that prevent them to become children of God.
He lamented that there were certain attitudes ruling among Christians which sometimes bring about divisions, disunity, tribalism, nepotism, sectionalism, selfishness, greed, competing for unhelpful positioning and political affiliation.
He urged Catholics to make the conscious effort to own a Bible, read and share the word of God and mediate on it. By Sr. Gloria Duongnaa, SMI

At the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at Bosofour , Mampong-Ashanti in the Konongo-Mampong Diocese, Rev. Fr. Francis Boamah, the Parish Priest shared with the congregation a message by Pope Francis who admonished the faithful to “celebrate the word, pray the word and live the word.
He added that the Holy Father has asked that how many of the faithful have a bible, how many can read the bible and how many read the bible?
In a homily on Sunday, Januray 22, Fr. Boamah narrated how the gospel drew attention of Christians to the call of the four disciple, Peter, Andrew, James and John, saying, though Christ was God and could have done all, He called the disciples because he needed people to work with and he is still calling.
According to Fr. Boamah, “It is up to us to stop whatever we are doing, leave everything behind and follow him. “Follow me” was the call “and I will make you fishers of men” was the purpose for the call.”
He noted that when God calls, He assigns a duty and no one had been called for no reason. He therefore asked the congregation to be ever ready to respond to God’s call without delay.
He challenged the faithful to read the word, listen to the word, study the word and be doers of the word who will leave everything behind to follow Christ who is the word when the call comes. By Sr. Joan Dzifa Bosro, SIJ
