Let God be at the Centre of Your Leadership: New Accra Archdiocesan Christian Mothers’ Executives Charged

The newly elected leaders of the Accra Archdiocesan Christian Mothers’ Association (CMA) have been inducted into office for a three-year term at the St. Bakhita Catholic Church at Community 20 with a call on them to let God be at the centre of their leadership.

Rev. Fr. Philip Abaya, SVD, a Ghanaian Priest ministering in Brazil but currently on holidays, who made the call in his homily, urged the new leaders to take the bull by the horn and move from our comfort zones and hope in the Lord alone for success.

The inducted executives are Mother Eunice Kokui Dumashie, a parishioner of St. Bakhita, Archdiocesan President; Mother Esther Mame Ansaba Abaka of  St. James Parish, Osu, 1st Vice President; Mother Theresa Addai Marfo of Queen of Peace, Madina, 2nd Vice President; Mother Matilda Deku of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Baatsonaa Secretary; and Mother Paulina Darko of Holy Family, Mataheko, Assistant Secretary.

The rest are Mother Charity Grace Haywood-Amartey of St. Theresa Parish, North Kaneshie, Treasurer; Mother Agnes Abigail Tweneboa-Kodua of Our Lady of Mercy, Tema, Financial Secretary; Mother Regina Moore of Star of the Sea, Dansoman and Mother Helena Apaloo of St. Theresa Parish, North Kaneshie, Chaplain and Assistant respectively; Mother Beatrice Gbedze Senyo of St. John Bosco, Golf City, Protocol Officer and Mother Anna Mensah of St. Kizito, Nima, Advisor.

Installation officers were Mother Hannah Essuman, National President, Rev. Fr. Hilary Agbenosi, Priest in Charge of St. Bakhita and Fr. Abaya while Mother Mabel Quarshie, the outgoing 1st Vice President, Mother Ernestina Adom, outgoing 2nd Vice President and Mother Augustina Arthur, Past National 1st Vice President decorated executives with their badge of office and sash after swearing them into office.

After the installation, special prayers were said for the newly inducted executives who were admonished to work to the glory of God and the Church.

The new executives of St. Bakhita Christian Mothers’, Christian Fathers’, Christian Sons’ and Daughters’ Associations were also introduced.

As part of the ceremony, the outgoing executives were invited forward, congratulated for their good work done and blessed by the Priest.

The outgoing executives were presented with gifts by the new Arch-Diocesan President who also doubles as the St. Bakhita local President.

In her maiden speech, Mother Dumashie, assured that as new executives, they would work together as one body with a common goal to achieve their targets and raise Accra CMA to an acceptable level.

“We shall improve upon the good works of our predecessors with the help of all mothers in the Archdiocese, she said.

She asked mothers to participate in all activities of the Association and be financially committed so that together they could raise Accra Archdiocese to a level with the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Christian Mothers’ Association is a well-organized, well managed, self-sustaining women group able to continuously support the spiritual, social, economic and political empowerment of women.

It is non-governmental, non-profit making Organization committed to the empowerment of poverty reduction and enhancements of dynamic Christian values.

It provides civic, health, formal, and non-formal education and teaching of social and moral values.

As an Association Certified as Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), it promotes dynamic Christian values among family members, and continuously support the spiritual, social, economic and political empowerment of women.
