The A.Y. Avevor Family in the Diaspora have donated some learning materials to the pupils of the Alakple Roman Catholic School in the Anloga District of Ghana’s Volta Region.
The items donated on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 included Stationeries; exercise books, pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, sharpeners and footballs.
They were received on behalf of the School by the Local Manager, Rev. Fr. Michael Gardemor and the headteacher, Mr. Bernard Efah.
The Avevor Family is prominent in the Catholic Church and School in Alakple. Many of the Avevors of blessed memory including Anthony Yao (A.Y.) Avevor attended the Alakple Roman Catholic School.
Mr. Damian Dieu Donne Avevor, who made the donation on behalf of the A.Y. Avevor Family (made of the children, grandchildren and in- laws), said the family in the diaspora was touched when they visited the School on October 30, 2023 and acquainted themselves with some of the challenges in the School.
He said upon the visit, the family decided to show a gesture by presenting some stationeries to the School to enhance learning and teaching.
Mr. Avevor encouraged the pupils to make good use of the items, advising them to learn hard to become good future leaders.
Receiving the items, Fr. Gardemor said he was overwhelmed by the gesture. He was grateful to the Avevor family and friends from the Diaspora.
On his part, the Headteacher, Mr. Efah expressed appreciation to the Avevor Family for the gesture which would be very beneficial to the pupils who lack these basic learning materials.
Like Oliver twist, he asked for more while he prayed the Avevor family continues this humanitarian gesture as a yearly project.
The 350 pupils from Kindergarten to Junior High School received two or three each of the items donated and were elated.
