The Catholic community of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Baatsona-Spintex has been dedicated to the Glory of Lord after 20years of being a Catholic community.
The dedication which took place on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the premises of St. Ignatius of Loyola was performed by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie.
It witnessed by the congregation of the Society of Jesus mostly referred to as the Jesuits, members of St. Ignatius of Loyola and Regina Caeli Catholic community, an Outstation at Agbelezaa- Manet.
Concelebrants at the Mass included Rev. Fr. John Ghansah, SJ Assistant Provincial Superior of North- West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus and Rev. Fr. Reginald Tiesaah Bonguunyuri, SJ, Priest-in-Charge of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Archbishop Kwofie in his homily, admonished the parishioners to continue supporting the growth of the church not only in monetary terms but also from their hearts through their actions since the heart is where goodness flows from.
The day started with an inspection of guard of honour by Rev. Fr. John Ghansah, SJ Assistant Provincial Superior of North- West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus.
The keys to the church and the tabernacle were handed over to the Archbishop who opened the doors of the church and allowed parishioners to proceed inside for the dedication and Mass.
During Mass, 52 catechumens from both St. Ignatius of Loyola and Regina Caeli were confirmed. Confirmation is a solemn way of receiving the Holy Spirit to qualify as a soldier of Christ.
The catechumen were anointed with the oil of Chrism which symbolizes the seal of the Holy Spirit.
The St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish is under the care of the congregation of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
