The Archdiocesan Education Committee (AEC) of Accra has held its maiden Best Teachers Awards Day to honour nine outstanding teachers from Catholic private schools within the Archdiocese.

The event took place on October 4, 2025 at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, under the theme, “Recognizing Our Teachers’ Dedication.”

This brought together clergy, school heads, PTA representatives, sponsors, and guests who commended the AEC for instituting the awards to motivate teachers and promote educational excellence within the Archdiocese.

The ceremony, which began with a Eucharistic celebration, was graced by Msgr.Theodore Quaye, who in his homily urged teachers to be selfless in their service and to always remember God’s presence in their work and the nation’s development.

According to Mrs. Ernestina Sarfoa Osei Tutu, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, the awards sought to recognize the invaluable role teachers play in shaping the future.

“Today we celebrate you because you give life. You are amazing, and you ought to be celebrated,” she said, emphasising that teachers do not only impart knowledge but also guide children morally and socially.

Mr. Emmanuel Dzregah, AEC Coordinator of Private Schools, presented the awards to the honorees, expressing gratitude for their dedication and hard work.

The maiden AEC Teachers’ Awards marked the beginning of a new tradition, one that uplifts the teaching vocation, celebrates excellence, and strengthens the Catholic identity of education across the Archdiocese of Accra.
