The Accra East and West Grand Commandaries and Ladies Auxiliaries of the Knights of St. John International have made a cash donation of GHc5,000 to the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra to support needy Catholics as well as non-Catholics within the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese.
The presentation was made by Brigadier General Bekoe Palmer-Buckle on behalf of the two Grands and was received by Fr. George Ekow Mensah, Director of Caritas Accra on behalf of the Archdiocese.
In another development, the leadership of the 10th District Commandery and District 2 Ladies Auxiliary of the Noble Order in the Sunyani Diocese paid a visit to the Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi at his residence in Abesim, a suburb of Sunyani.
The delegation was led by the District Commander, Major Joseph Kuupol and District 2 President, Sis. Margaret Osei Anim.
As part of the visit, on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, on behalf of the KSJI, the District Commander and District 2 President, presented an undisclosed amount to the Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese.
In a brief remark, Major Kuupol indicated the donation was aimed at supporting the Diocese especially in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic and most especially in its evangelism strategies.
In his response, the Bishop was very appreciative of the support towards the needy and vulnerable through the Diocesan Secretariat.
He urged the Noble Order to see this pandemic as a faith test and a means to build the domestic church and the family, stronger.
He tasked the leadership to reach out to everyone and make the faith more understood especially in these challenging moments.
Other members of the delegation were Col. Prof. Daniel Obeng-Ofori (1st Vice District Commander), Lt. Joseph Effah Boabeng (District Adjutant) and Sis. Janet Asare-Gyamfi (1st Vice District 2 President).
