The management team of American Leprosy Missions has rebranded to Hope Rises International.
The brand rollout event was held on April 17, 2025 at the Fiesta Royale Hotel, Accra.
Ms. Deborah F. Mensah, the Programs Manager for Hope Rises International, stated that the motive behind the change of name is for the organization to move from dealing with persons living with leprosy to persons living with Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) such as Bruruli Ulcer, Trachoma, Dracunculiasis and Yaws.
The event was graced by various stakeholders in the public health sector, representatives from partner institutions, friends and family of the organization.
Hope Rises International is an organization that works with Christian partners around the world to bring physical healing and enduring hope to people suffering from trauma as a result of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
Dr. Benedict Quao, Programs Manager for the National Leprosy Program, in his goodwill message to the organization, acknowledged the works of the organization and encouraged all those working with Hope Rises International to see themselves as agents of hope giving hope to people faced with these challenges.
He said, “Those who enter this field to help cure these diseases are not just regular people, are not just special people, they are agents of hope”.
Dr. Nana Konama Kotey, Programmes Manager for the National Buruli Ulcer Control & National Yaws Eradication Programme, added that, the name change depicts what the organization is doing for humanity, which is giving hope to all.
She acknowledged the organization for their impact in society and gave health workers encouragement to forge ahead in giving hope to individuals living with NTDs.
Touching on the organization’s impacts in Ghana, Ms. Deborah Mensah elaborated on collaborations with the Ghana Health Service, Ministry of Health, Northern Empowerment Association on dealing with NTDs in 13 districts in the Upper East Region.
Though there is a change of name, the organization still maintains the same mission of giving hope to humanity, especially to people facing NTDs.
Hope Rises International, formerly American Leprosy Missions has been in existence since 1906, and has worked in Ghana for the past 20 years to live and proclaim the gospel while bringing healing to those in need.
