The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, the Most Rev. Henryk Mieczylaw Jagodzinski has urged Priests, Religious Men and Women and Seminarians in the Diocese of Sunyani to show their readiness to die on the pastoral soil in their ministry.

At a Mass on August 10, 2023 in the Jubilee Hall of the late Bishop James Kwadwo Owusu Pastoral Center, Sunyani, to mark the 50 years of the creation of the Sunyani Diocese, the Nuncio called on all of them to be faithful and true witnesses of the gospels of Christ as the martyrs who have gone before us did and be ready to die on the pastoral soil.

He said that Jesus himself, through his passion and death on the Cross,  gave his followers an example of total offering of self to emulate, adding, Christ was inviting every Christian to invest in the future by planting the seed of the gospel, anywhere, anytime, wherever they find themselves.

The Catholic Diocese of Sunyani which was created in 1973 celebrated its Golden Jubilee with many activities.

Archbishop Jagodzinski reminded the Consecrated Men and Women that their special task was to pray for the needy and for the death, bearing in mind that, they were the visible sign of the Kingdom of heaven.

He exhorted them to have the courage to carry on the task entrusted to them by Christ.

The Nuncio extended Pope Francis’ warm regards to them, congratulated and wished them God’s blessings as the Diocese celebrates its 50th anniversary.

He expressed profound gratitude to the Most Rev. Matthew Gyamfi, bishop of Sunyani for leading the Priests, Religious and lay faithful to be dedicated to the work and service of God and humanity.
