The Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, has called on young people to remain determined, believe in their potential, and use their future success to uplift others.
He made the call at the awards ceremony of the Archbishop Andoh Education Endowment Fund, held on November 29, 2025 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church at Ashiaman.
Addressing students, parents, clergy, and invited guests, Bishop Louis said the event was not only an awards ceremony but “a celebration of courage, possibilities, and determination.”

He delivered the message on behalf of the Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp who chairs the fund’s Board of Trustees.
Bishop Louis highlighted the foresight of the late Archbishop Dominic Andoh, who established the education fund in 1997 to support brilliant but needy students.
“Two years have turned to 30, and even after his death in 2013, the fund continues to live on,” he said.
This year, 64 students from Parishes across the archdiocese were selected for support, following recommendations from parish priests and deanery committees.

In addition, 10 students from the Catholic Institute of Business and Technology will receive scholarships, bringing the total number of beneficiaries for the year to 74.
Each awardee will receive GH₵2,500.
In his message to the students, Bishop Louis outlined four key lessons.
“Circumstances do not limit potential, but should refine one’s aspirations. Education remains a doorway to transformation, shaping opportunities for the future. Self-belief is essential, and young people must aim beyond perceived limits” he stated.
“Success should be used to lift others up, just as parishioners including those with very little—contribute annually to sustain the fund”, he added.

Sharing his own childhood experiences in a compound house and his determination as a student, the Auxiliary Bishop encouraged the awardees to work with confidence.
“Study diligently, and never forget that the world is waiting to hear the sound of your footsteps,” he told them.
The ceremony also recognised the contributions of parishioners, clergy, and the mass choir who supported the event.
