“Be Authentic Witnesses” – Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church Exhorted

Must read

It was a joy seeing the members of the Institute of Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC) gather for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the eve of Pentecost at Sokode Gbogame in Ghana’s Ho Diocese during which the Sisters were exhorted to be authentic witnesses.

At a Vigil Mass, Rev. Fr. Samuel Eco Kornu, Chaplain of Mater Ecclesiae School, was full of joy as he welcomed the Sisters back home to Sokode.

He encouraged the Sisters that “Everything that happens is God’s will.” The people of Babel exhibited their human nature – they had plans to make a name for themselves.

According to him, it was pride and search for fame to overthrow God. God knew their intentions and so He scattered them upon the face of the earth. Our unity should display who we are. He added that the Ubuntu Story should inspire us. I am because we are and we are because you are.

Fr. Kornu admonished all to eschew pride, fame and seeking revenge and posed thought provoking questions to the congregation for meditation: “Are we ready to receive the spirit?  The Spirit of God cannot live in a heart that hates, seeks revenge, gossip, petty Secret sins, amongst others.

“The spirit will still come. Let us pray the Prayer of Humility always. Jesus cannot lie. He promised us the Holy Spirit and truly He pours it freely. We are all gifted uniquely and we receive separately according to our abilities. Appreciate yourself; accept who you. Be aflame with love and be happy,” Fr. Kornu stated.
