The Most Reverend John Yaw Opoku-Agyemang, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong, has urged members of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) and Ladies’ Auxiliary to be Christians of hope.
In his address, the Bishop stressed that as practising Catholics and Christians of hope, it is essential to embody actions that inspire hope, such as being prayerful, submissive, defending the Catholic faith, and welcoming those who have strayed or backslidden.
Delivering the keynote address at the 12th Biennial Supreme Subordinate Convention in Kumasi, Most Rev. Opoku-Agyemang reminded the gathering that hope is a force that never disappoints because it is rooted in Christ Jesus.

“There are many things that can happen in our lives which lead us to despair, making us question whether we are on the right path. However, despair cannot bring about change in our lives. When we are hopeful, we are able to see the possibility of something good emerging from even the most challenging circumstances.”
He continued, highlighting the significance of the opening of the basilica door in Rome, which symbolises the faithful passing through the door of Christ. Christ, he reminded them, is the true door that leads us to heaven.
“The Christian’s responsibility is not merely to pass through doors, but to live in a way that nurtures hope; by being prayerful, humble, defending our faith, and offering support to those who have fallen away from the Church,” he emphasised.

The 12th Biennial Supreme Subordinate Convention was held from 2nd to 5th October 2025 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
This year’s convention was held under the theme: Pilgrims of Hope, A Year of Discipleship: The Role of the Knights & Ladies of KSJI.
