Be Missionaries of Peace- Nuns in Ghana Urged

Must read

Rev. Fr. Paul Yaw Oppong, a Curate at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Nsoatre- Sunyani in the Bono Region, has urged the Sisters of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), to be missionaries of peace.

He said this at a Mass of the Solemnity of St. Peter and Paul, on June 29, 2024 at the Novitiate of the HHCJ where almost all the Sisters of the Province had gathered for their mid-Chapter Evaluation and Sisters’ Assembly.

Fr. Paul brought to light in a summarized way, the two apostles of the day. Peter, he said, denied Jesus so many times but Jesus gave him a lot of chances to turn back and he did so whole heartedly.

Paul was in prison and Peter prayed for him. He said, indicating that many a time, “our deeds speak louder than our words in marginalizing our Sisters instead of praying for them.

In our difficult and challenging moments, do we pray?, he asked, saying, “We should rather pray and stop carrying our dirty linens out.”

“Some sisters instead of praying for one another, tend to put their Sisters problems for discussing in the public domain,” Fr. Oppong said.

As religious, he urged the Sisters to let their lives not be embittered but always pray to be beacons of peace and holiness.
