“Be Responsible Fathers”- Catholic Priest in Accra Admonishes on Fathers’ Day

Must read

The Priest-in-Charge of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at Nii Boiman in the Archdiocese of Accra, Rev. Fr. Mathias Gyato, has urged fathers to strive to be responsible and good fathers, not just people who have children.
He defined responsible fathers as those who spent quality time with their wives and children but not the absentee type of fathers.
He said mush as it was important to work hard to provide for the family, it should not be done at the expense of been available and spending time with the family.
Fr. Gyato said these in a Homily to mark Fathers Day Celebration which fell on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Touching on the Readings of the day, Fr. Gyato urged Christians to be kind and generous to the other by not only receiving, but more importantly, giving.
He noted that everything one had, including life, was a gift from God, therefore, one must share what one has with others.

“All that we have, beginning from life, is a gift from God… unfortunately we often pay more attention to receiving than giving,” he bemoaned.
Nana Atepor, a long time parishioner, was adjudged the Father of the Year and was presented with a Citation.
The Parish Pastoral Council through its leaders, also presented a gift (a smock) to Fr. Gyato as part of activities marking Fathers Day.
It was merry making and socialization after Mass as the Fathers hosted the entire Church membership to a Party.
