Rev. Fr Ebenezer Patrick Amonoo, the Parish Priest of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Nyanyano-Kakraba, Kasoa in the Cape Coast Archdiocese in the Central Region of Ghana has urged the youth of the parish to pursue their dream with truthfulness and determination.
He advised the Youth during the thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, 10th October, 2021 for Miss Juliana Akosua Manu Afful who emerged as the second runner up for the 2021 Edition of Ghana’s Most Beautiful and Mr. Nelson Saviour Kwashie who also emerged as the Second Runner Up for the 2021 Best National Teachers Award held at Sunyani.
Outdooring the two winners to the Church, Rev. Fr Amonoo said the way to a successful journey must start with determination and sacrifice.
“The Church supports her youth, when they make efforts to reach higher heights, during Manu’s competition, we all saw the good works and determination and we supported her to the end, it all starts with determination and self-sacrifice and the church will push you”, he noted.
Manu who represented the Western Region in the just ended Ghana Most Beautiful pageant aired by TV3, is a staunch Catholic, hardworking and dedicated young lady who is committed to excellence.
She attended Bertrace School Complex where she wrote her BECE and then proceeded to Holy Child School in Cape Coast where she completed with a WASSCE Certificate. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
She has been a faithful member of the Knights and Ladies of the Altar (KNOLTA) and a Crusader (member of the Catholic Youth Organisation, CYO for many years. At an early of age 14, she became KNOLTA’s President and the Parish Secretary for the Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO). She was a member, now an alumnus of the Pax Choir KNUST where she was the alto part leader and currently a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Youth Choir at Nyanyano Kakraba.
Her unique ability to make people smile and her great leadership skills made her stand out amongst her peers.
Mr. Nelson Saviour Kwashie on his part was decorated and awarded with a brand-new saloon car by the National Teaching Council of Ghana.
He is an English Language and Literature in English Teacher at Awutu Winton Senior High School, Awutu Breku in the Awutu Senya District in the Central Region, he is currently married and gifted with two girls.
Nelson who is a BHOBU, an Old Boy of Bishop Herman College in Kpando in Volta Region of Ghana holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in English Language from the University of Education, Winneba.
In August 2019, he was awarded by the Accra International Book Festival as one of the Best Promoters of Reading and Writing in Ghana while he has also been a National Volunteer Trainer (The Spelling Bee-Ghana) from 2016 till date.
Mr. Kwashie is also a Spoken Words Artist and doubles as the Founder and Director of the “Literacy Boost Project”.
The School of Jesus at the Parish in a short presentation thanked Mr. Nelson Kwashie and Miss Manu Afful for being role models for them and also inspiring them.
Mr. Nelson also advised the youth to use their God given potential to serve God and their Community.
“We all have a set of talents, embrace yours and use it to serve God and your country no matter your talent”, he stated.
