In a heartwarming display of support for the St. Cecilia Choir, the Blebu family of Keta has made a generous donation of new choir robes to the members of the St. Cecilia Choir of the St. Michael Co-Cathedral, Keta in the Catholic Diocese of Keta-Akatsi on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
The presentation was done in memory of the late Madam Cecilia Blebu, who was once a member of St. Cecilia Choir. The ceremony was attended by family members, Church officials, and the choiristers.
The choir members were visibly thrilled with the new robes, which they would now wear during their performances and regular Masses.
Rev. Fr Michael Elorm Gbordzor, the Co-Cathedral Administrator, extended his gratitude to the Blebu family, praising their generosity and continuous support for the church’s activities.
He highlighted the impact the donation would have on the choir’s morale and the overall worship experience at the Cathedral.
According to Fr. Gbordzor, the St. Cecilia Choir, known for its beautiful renditions of Sacred hymns, had been an integral part of the worship experience at St. Michael Co-Cathedral for many years.
The donation of the choir robes is expected to enhance the choir’s presence and contribute further to the solemnity and joy of the church’s worship. He encouraged the choir members to be committed to their services to the Church.
The Vice President of St. Cecilia Choir, Mrs. Pamela Eyram Nyonator Dake, expressed profound appreciation to the Blebu family on behalf of the choir.
“We are deeply thankful to the Blebu family for this thoughtful donation. It not only beautifies the choir but also encourages members to be more active and strengthens the spirit of unity within our parish community,” she remarked.
The Blebu family’s gesture was warmly received by the entire congregation, and the event concluded with a special musical performance by the choir, showcasing their appreciation through song.
Coupled with this event was a donation of a wall clock and an amount from a 90 year old Madam Mary Katahena; who was also a member of St Cecilia Choir.
Madam Katahena marked her 90th birthday on Friday, January 17, 2025. Though very old, she still has strength to sing and dance as she sang one of the old songs in fond memory of her ‘hey’ time and danced to the admiration of all present.
Fr. Gbordzor was very delightful at the kind gesture of the 90 year old. He urged St. Cecilia Choir members to emulate the dedication of Madam Katahena.
