Students and staff of Blessed Laura Catholic School at Tema Community 22 on Friday, March 13 2026, gathered for a spiritual reflection on the theme “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).
The reflection was delivered by Mr. Robert Dela Yao Mawuenyegah the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Global Newswatch Media and Communications, who encouraged the students to live with kindness, sincerity, and love for others as part of their Christian journey, especially during the Lenten season.

Delivering his message, he shared a story about a young girl named Amina, who showed kindness by sharing her food with a hungry bird.
He said, “Amina shows us that a pure heart brings joy to all… kindness is contagious, and even small acts of love can make a big difference”.
Mr. Mawuenyegah also reflected on the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3–12), highlighting how Jesus teaches all faithful to live lives of humility, mercy, peace, and righteousness.

He explained that being pure in heart means loving God sincerely, having good intentions.
”Being pure in heart means including a new kid in your class, or saying sorry when you’ve hurt someone’s feelings”, he said.
He encouraged the students to keep their hearts free from negative attitudes such as grudges, greed, and dishonesty, which can prevent them from experiencing God’s presence and purity of heart.

As practical steps to cultivate purity of heart, he urged the students to practice forgiveness, prayer, service to others, honesty, and gratitude in their daily lives.
Another short story titled “The Clear Stream” illustrated how a pure heart is like clean water that reflects God’s love.
Just as a young girl’s initiative in the story cleaned a polluted stream until it became clear again, the students from Blessed Laura Catholic School were reminded that they too can make their hearts pure through good actions and positive choices.

Mr. Mawuenyegah also admonished the students of Jesus’ promise that those who keep their hearts pure will ”experience God’s presence in a deep way, in the people around us, in nature, and in quiet moments”.
Staff and Pupils were encouraged to practice good character, support one another, and strive to live out the values of the Gospel both in school and in their communities.
