Blessed Laura Catholic School on Monday, December 15, 2026, marked the end of its academic year with a pilgrimage and Holy Eucharistic celebration at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, as part of activities marking the Church’s Jubilee Year of Hope.
Speaking at the event, the Headmistress of the school, Sr. Mary Obiejesi, said the pilgrimage brought together learners, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff to thank God for guidance throughout the academic year and to commit the festive Christmas season into His hands.
According to her, the visit was inspired by the Jubilee Year of Hope instituted by Pope Francis in blessed memory, which the school has incorporated into its faith-based education. She explained that as a Catholic institution committed to holistic education, the school considers spiritual and moral formation as essential as academic instruction.
“The pilgrimage and Holy Mass help our children to grow spiritually while strengthening their moral values,” she said.
Sr. Obiejesi noted that the learners gained rich spiritual and educational experiences during the visit, including passing through the Holy Door, touring key parts of the cathedral, and ascending the Cathedral tower.
She added that explanations provided by Rev. Fr. Michael enhanced the children’s understanding of the significance of the cathedral and the Jubilee celebration.
She described the programme as both spiritually enriching and enjoyable, saying it was the first major pilgrimage of its kind undertaken by the school since its establishment 11 years ago.
Sr. Obiejesi expressed gratitude to God for the success of the programme and prayed for the continued growth and progress of Blessed Laura Catholic School.
The pilgrimage climaxed with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, officially bringing the school’s academic year to a close.
