The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has announced the organization of two special pilgrimage trips to Rome as part of the Jubilee Year celebrations from May 12 to May 20, 2025, and September 20 to September 27, 2025.

In a letter addressed to all Priests, Religious, and lay faithful within the Archdiocese, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp emphasized the importance of this spiritual journey and encouraged various Societies and Associations within the Archdiocese to nominate one credible candidate for visa application.

The letter stated that candidates must be active members of the Catholic faith and can be sponsored by their respective associations based on their financial capacity.

Each Pilgrimage to Rome will accommodate a maximum of 20 pilgrims.

In the letter, Archbishop Kwofie stated that eligible associations included the Order of Knights and Dames, Archdiocesan Catechist Association, Catholic Professional Guild, Knights of St. John International, Ladies Auxiliary of KSJI, Knights of Marshall, Ladies of Marshall, Archdiocesan Youth Council, COSRA, St. Anthony Guilds, Legion of Mary, Sacred Heart Confraternity, Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Society of St. Vincent de Paul and catholic Women Association.

The letter also pointed out that the selection process for pilgrims will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, stating the invitation as a privilege and not a right.

In addition, no group may present a candidate for both pilgrimage trips. In cases where associations do not submit candidates by the deadlines, the Archdiocese reserves the right to select individuals from among the faithful.

Each pilgrim is expected to cover a travel cost of USD 1,870, with specific terms and conditions applicable. The registration deadline for the May pilgrimage is February 24, 2025, while the deadline for the September pilgrimage is May 1, 2025.

For registration and further inquiries, interested parties are encouraged to contact Rev. Fr. Raymond Osei Tutu at the Chancellor’s office via email at chancelloroffice.accra@gmail.com or by calling the Archbishop’s Office at 030 222 2728.

The Archdiocese also invites all Christ’s faithful, especially parishes and associations, to take the opportunity to utilize the grace of the Jubilee Year by organizing activities for their members.
