Catholic Archdiocese of Accra to Host Rosary Congress in October

Must read

The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has officially launched its maiden Rosary Congress, which is set to take place at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cantonments.

The three-day programme, scheduled for October 16 to 19, 2025, is themed, “The Holy Rosary: A Weapon for Pilgrims of Hope”.

Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, during the launch, noted that the celebration will be led by Rev. Fr. Paintsill, an advocate for Marian devotion.

He has encouraged all to participate in this upcoming celebration to honor Mary through prayers, songs, confessions, and testimonies.

Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie has also announced a project for the construction of an Archdiocesan Grotto, noting that the celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary took place at selected Grottos throughout the Archdiocese due to the absence of an official Archdiocesan Grotto.

He added, “Through your help and donations, your collections and contributions, we shall build an Archdiocesan Grotto, House of Mary. May Mary, Help of Christians, through her powerful intercessions, clear our path, so that, whether we are praying on the feast of Assumption or whether we are praying the Rosary Congress, we shall do it in the house; the Grotto of Mary three times”.

He has, however, reminded the faithful that “as we prepare to build Mary’s House, let’s not forget the Legacy of Hope, the Children’s Hospital. Mother Mary would like to see her children fit and healthy for purpose”.

Speaking on the theme for the celebration of the Assumption, “Pilgrims of Hope: Do not be afraid to take Mary’s home”, Archbishop Kwofie encouraged all faithful to embrace hope by receiving the Blessed Virgin Mary in their homes.

“Are you afraid to take Mother Mary home? Are you not afraid that Mother Mary is left stranded on the streets and has no one to take her home? Scripture tells us, from that time on, this disciple was not afraid to take her to his home”, he said.

He also urged them to be as humble as the Blessed Virgin Mary because “God has plans for us, but are we humble to listen to Him and to abide in His presence? Are we willing to spend time to discern His purpose for our life?”.
