In a bid to start the running of a National Catholic Television Station, Lumen Christi Catholic Media Limited under the auspices of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) will commence the Diocesan launching of a Catholic TV project from Thursday, February 25, 2022.
Lumen Christi TV is a National Catholic TV Project being spearheaded by the National Catholic Laity Council.
With the theme “Living the Authentic Christian Social Teachings Through Mass Media Evangelization,” Goaso Diocese in Ghana’s Ahafo Region will be the first to launch the TV project on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Diocesan Pastoral and Social Centre at 10:00am.
Similar launching is expected to take place at the Star of the Sea Cathedral, Takoradi for the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese on Friday, March 4, 2022.
Wiawso Diocese in the Western North Region and the Ho Diocese in the Volta Region are scheduled for their launching on March 10 and 11, 2022 at the Pastoral Centre and Cathedral respectfully.
While the Obuasi Diocese in the Ashanti Region launches the TV project on March 12, 2022 at the St. Thomas Cathedral, the Jasikan Diocese in the Oti Region will perform its launch on March 13, 2022.
On March 26, the Sunyani Diocese in the Bono Region is expected to launch the Project at the Christ the King Cathedral.
The first batch of events in the seven Dioceses scheduled to perform their launch this February and March are expected to be graced their respective Bishops.
The Keynote speakers are expected to be the Chairpersons of the Diocesan Laity Councils.
Special fundraising activities are also expected at all the Diocesan launching events.
During the maiden launch at Goaso on Friday, February 25, the Chief Shepherd, the Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene will be there with Mr. Ernest Amankwah Morgan, the Laity Council Chairman of Goaso Diocese as the Keynote Speaker.
Lumen Christi Catholic Media Limited is a media company limited by shares and owned by the Catholic Church of Ghana to run the the Lumen Christi (LC) TV.
LC TV has its head office in Accra and will have 20 bureaus in all the Dioceses and a Vicariate under their respective Diocesan Departments of Social Communications (DEPSOCOM) to reflect its national character and be managed by a team of media professionals to be recruited by the Board of Directors.
The Broadcast and Transmission of the LC TV will be done via digital terrestrial and satellite transmission. This will provide coverage into the 19 Dioceses and a Vicariate whilst satellite broadcast will give coverage all over Africa.
LC TV has the mandate to deliver fascinating television programmes and content that informs, entertains, educates and evangelises to a global audience.
The vision of the TV channel is to be accepted as a stellar, evangelistic, entertaining, and authentic TV channel with international appeal.
