Catholic Youth Empowerment Seminar in Accra to Add Value to Working Class – Organisers

This year’s Youth Empowerment Seminar, the 7th Edition, being organised by the Kaneshie Deanery Catholic Youth Council of the Accra Archdiocese is expected to add value to the working class youth.

The Seminar to be held at Our Lady of Assumption (OLA) Catholic Church at New Achimota on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 8:00am to 2:00pm would be beneficial to all youth whether employed, have started or are willing to start enterprises in their respective areas of interest.

In an interview with newswatchgh.com, Samuel Semiheva, one of the Chairpersons of the Planning Committee said “Over the past six editions, the Seminar had sought to enhance the growth and maturation as well as develop the skills of the teaming Youth.

“We have deliberately crafted this platform with the intention to expose our Youth to positive corporate ethics as well as economically productive through Catholic social teachings Catholic social teachings, he told newsatchgh.com on April 5, 2024.

He noted that the participants would experience practical presentations from seasoned speakers and motivated by the journeys of our event partners.

The keynote topic for the Seminar is: “The Importance of Youth Empowerment: “The Role of the Catholic Church” with Panel Discussion topic as: “Job Pathways: The Entrepreneurial Conversation.”

“In recent times, Seminars of this nature are quite expensive for the average youth but with GHc40 only a participant could get as much value from the Empowerment Seminar,” he stated.

He hinted that the participants would receive a certificate, lunch pack, and mentorship by some of the best personalities in the various sectors in our country, from academia to industry to legal and many more.

According to Samuel Semiheva, this year’s keynote address would draw the attention of the Youth to the various opportunities mother Church could offer to facilitate their socio-economic empowerment.

“We also hope that this will be a clarion call to Parishes who, for some reason, are relaxed to be intentional about empowering their youthful assets for the advancement of the Church and the community as a whole,” he stated.

He added: “The panel discussion will unravel the realities of some selected career options and also enlighten youth on how to successfully venture into entrepreneurship (full-time or part-time).”

This Seminar, Samuel Semiheva noted “welcomes all who are between 15 and 40 years of age… Catholics and non-Catholics alike… whether you are employed, self-employed, apprentice, or planning to venture into entrepreneurship.”

“Everyone within the working class is warmly invited, if not for anything at all, to network because it is high time we created the next cohort of successful businessmen and women in this country,” he added
