Hundreds of members of the Christian Mothers’ Association from the eight Deaneries in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, converged at the St. Bakhita Catholic Church at Community 20, Lashibi, to mark their patronal feast of the Immaculate Conception on the theme: “Original Sin and Living in Harmony with One Another.”
As part of the celebration, the members from the Osu, Kaneshie, Kpehe, Mamprobi, Madina, Tema, Ashaiman, and Ada Deaneries undertook spiritual activities including Adoration, Rosary prayers, Praise and Worship, talk on the theme, Holy Mass, induction of newly elected executives, awards to deserving members, procession through the streets, and fun games.
In attendance were Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Acheampong, Spiritual Director of the CMA in Accra, and Rev. Fr. Raymond Lord Ampong, Assistant Accra Archdiocesan Youth Chaplain and Assistant Priest of St. Raphael the Archangel Church at Lashibi Youth Centre.

Speaking on the theme, Fr. Ampong urged the CMA members to be good every day and not allow people to bring them down through sin.
He urged them not to let sin break their relationships with God, encouraging them to embrace goodness as sin separates us from God. He noted that sin distances man from God, hence the need for God’s grace daily.
He reminded the Christian Mothers that sin breaks up a relationship with God and divides God’s people, and entreated them to eschew the blame game when it comes to sin.
Touching on how the CMA members can live in harmony, Fr. Ampong referenced Pope Francis, who once said: “God is never tired forgiving us, but it is us who are tired of forgiving.”

He, therefore, charged the mothers to always live in harmony and make oneness, reconciliation, and forgiveness their topmost priorities, reminding them that sin affects them spiritually and physically, hence they need to forgive as the Lord forgives them.
He cautioned them against taking delight in falsely or negatively tarnishing people’s image, saying, “When someone wrongs you, don’t extend it to all people connected to the person.”
Let’s learn to forgive and reconcile with one another for the good and growth of your group,” he added.
On leadership, Fr. Ampong iterated that it wasn’t only about age or who you are, but about how you serve with love and respect the people entrusted to you to serve.
“Don’t look down on people in your leadership position, but rather build your leadership on God, love, and respect,” he stated.
He added, “Remain humble in all you do. In humility, value the people above yourselves,” stressing that as mothers, they had to advocate for peace, live, preach, and stand for peace.
The Feast Day Mass was presided over by Fr. Ampong and concelebrated by Fr. Acheampong, the Accra Archdiocesan Spiritual Director of the CMA, who preached the homily.

In his homily, Fr. Acheampong urged the mothers to avail themselves for God to use them for His work instead of allowing the devil use them to sin.
He stressed the need for CMA members to always have forgiving and reconciliatory hearts, lamenting that, of late, people do not develop the attitude of visiting the confessional.
He therefore advised members of the CMA to take advantage of the confessional to confess their sins.
