As the Christian world marks the nativity of Jesus Christ, Christmas, the President of the Major Superiors of Religious in the Catholic Church in Ghana has encouraged Christians to dig deep into their local resources, indigenous knowledge, and expertise to create new economic structures and political systems.
Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Paul Saa-Dade Ennin SMA, on behalf of the Conference of Major Superior in Ghana, shared a Christmas and New Year message indicating that the birth of Christ inaugurates the hope of a new beginning, a new era.
He explained that it is no coincidence that Christmas is celebrated this time of the year when the sun overcomes the longest night in the year, for “in Him is life and the life was the light of all humanity.”
He noted the citizens celebrate the birth of the Saviour and embrace the year 2023, Ghanaians would think of a new beginning as a nation, as a people, as a family, and as individuals.
He reiterated that 2023 would mark the 66th anniversary of Ghana’s Independence as a nation and the 31st anniversary of the 4th Republic and added that the West Africa country is a nation with milk and honey, with all the natural resources any country could dream of, yet ours is a history filled with dashed hopes and shattered dreams with many false starts and broken promises
To renew our hope this Christmas, he encouraged everyone in the coming year to look within our circle, shun appetite for foreign goods, and promote a taste for local products.
