The Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God Church on Sunday held a special COVID-19 vaccination exercise for members in Accra.
This was after sensitisation on COVID-19 and the need for members to receive the jab to protect themselves and others.
The Rev. Benjamin Tettey, Resident Pastor of the Church, said the surest way to be safe was to take the jab and asked the members to ignore
myths and misconceptions and get vaccinated.
“The God who saw us through the first wave of the virus will surely see us through it all, but we must all get vaccinated,” he said.
Health workers administered the jab to members of the Church and some residents, with the help of the Church’s Health Committee.
Rev. Tettey, urged the congregation to continue to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols even after taking the vaccine to keep safe, especially with the emergence of the Omicron variant.
A few members expressed joy after the vaccination and expressed gratitude to the Church for the foresight.
Omicron, the new COVID-19 variant was recently discovered in South Africa, reigniting fears and concerns about the pandemic.
It has also been discovered in some countries, with fresh cases emerging around the world.
The World Health Organisation has described it as a “variant of concern,”- more transmissible with the possibility to evade the protection granted by existing vaccines.
