Rev. Fr. Mamertus Adaklumegah, MCCJ, and Rev. Fr. Godwin Kwasi Kudzi, CSJ, who were recently ordained into the priestly ministry, have emphasized the importance of their role as priests to serve the church and the lay faithful, rather than personal interests and privileges.
During their ordination at the Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, New Achimota on Saturday, January 7, 2026, the newly ordained priests noted that God ordains priests in order to manifest His greatness in the lives of His people.
” God does not call us so we can do great things for Him, rather He calls us so that He will do great things for us”, they said.

According to Rev. Fr. Mamertus and Rev. Fr. Godwin, the gift of the priesthood is a testament of God’s grace, mercy, and love during their 12 years of formation.
While showing appreciation to their superiors, formators, spiritual directors, friends, and family, they noted that their role as priests should not make them feel entitled to privileges.
They said, “When the day comes when we start feeling entitled to preferential interests, when we start expecting and demanding privileges, please remind us that the only privilege we’re entitled to is to be of service to God and His people”.

The newly ordained priests also urged all faithful to continue to pray for them, as this will help them “strive and persevere to be holy priests”.
The ordination, which was presided over by the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, brought together missionaries from the Congregation of St. Joseph and the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus, religious men and women, friends, and family.
