Emulate Christ’s Love, Urges Fr. Abben-Yeboah

Must read

On June 7, 2024, parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amanful-Cape joined the universal Church to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
During the celebration, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Abben-Yeboah used the homily to urge parishioners to seek a transformation of their hearts by emulating the love of Jesus Christ.
The solemnity, which honours the infinite love and mercy of God, saw Fr. Abben-Yeboah highlighting how the Sacred Heart of Jesus symbolises God’s boundless compassion.
He called on the congregation to transform their hearts, often hardened by daily struggles, into ones that reflect Jesus’ softness, love, gentleness, and sensitivity.
Fr. Abben-Yeboah further appealed to the parishioners to love others selflessly and unconditionally, mirroring the sacrificial love of Christ. He stressed the need for humble service as a demonstration of this love, reminding the faithful that true devotion requires active compassion and care for others.
The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated by Catholics worldwide on the Friday following the second Sunday after Pentecost, placing the celebration typically in late May or June each year.
