Rev Fr. Dr. Ebenezer Akesseh, has been installed as the Parish Priest of the Christ the King Parish in Accra by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie.
The installation which took place on Sunday, October 24, 2021 makes Fr. Akesseh the 13th parish priest of Christ the King since its birth in 1951.
Fr. Akesseh was acting as the parish priest of Christ the King since May, 2021 after the retirement of Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, SVD.
Speaking at the installation Mass, Archbishop Kwofie congratulated the newly installed priest, Rev. Fr. for his spiritual achievements.
The Archbishop pledged to give his maximum support to Fr. Akesseh as the new parish priest administration and implored him to be spiritually stable as he shepherds the people of God.
On his part, Fr. Akesseh expressed his profound gratitude to the Archbishop for his appointment to serve at Christ the King parish.
“My dear Archbishop, thank you for the vote of confidence. I promise to be obedient to you and your successors, I would endeavour to represent you well here at Christ the King” he added.
He extended his appreciations to the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and other associations for the warm reception and support they had given him when he assumed office.
According to him, “I am happy to be your pastor. I am here to serve you and feed you spiritually. I am here to bring you Jesus.”
Fr. Akesseh urged the parishioners of Christ the King parish to pray for him as he takes the mantle upon himself to serve God and lead them as their spiritual father.
He encouraged them to trust in God’s providential guidance and commit their time together into His hands.
He said, “unless the Lord builds a house, those who build it labour in vain, but let the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain.”
As part of the ceremony, the Archbishop also commissioned and blessed the newly installed audiovisual system at the Christ the King parish hall.
Fr Akessseh thanked all parishioners for their spontaneous response in donating towards the completion of the audiovisual project.
Meanwhile, the parochial Vicar of Christ the King Parish, Rev. Fr. Raphael Hessah has been appointed to serve as the pastor of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Jomah, Ablekuma.
