The Ghana Armed Forces has issued a press release concerning a fierce battle between a soldier and a civilian leading to the death of the civilian at Ashaiman.
On Sunday, April 5, 2020, an arrest of a civilian suspected to be involved in an illegal conduct contrary to the Narcotics Act proved futile hence ended up being a battle.
It is said that, the civilian attempted to disarm the soldier who was part of the Operation COVID SAFETY team assigned at Ashaiman.
In the midst of the battle, the soldier’s riffle accidentally went off with the civilian sustaining life-threatening injuries.
The civilian unfortunately passed on while being transported to a hospital for treatment.
The Ghana Armed Forces says the body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces has assured the general public that investigations have already commenced into the incident and details will be duly communicated to the public.
