Following the passing into eternal life of His Holiness Pope Francis in Rome on Monday, April 21, 2025, the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) and the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana will hold a National Requiem Mass in Accra on Friday. April 25, 2025, to mark the death of the Holy Father, celebrate his life, and pray for the repose of his soul.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 23 and signed by the President of the GCBC, “The Mass will be open to the clergy, religious, the lay faithful, people of all other faith groups, and members of the public at large.”
The details for the National Requiem Mass are as follows:
Date: Friday, April 25, 2025
Venue: Holy Spirit Cathedral on Castle Road, Adabraka, Accra.
Time: 6:30 pm prompt
According to the statement, the doors of the Cathedral will open at 5:00pm; guests and visitors are to be seated by 6:00 pm.
Presiding over the Mass will be His Excellency Archbishop Julien Kaboré, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, together with members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
