Ghana Establishes COVID-19 Fund As Fight Against Virus Intensifies

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo has declared the establishment of the COVID-19 fund to assist the needy and vulnerable on Friday, March 27, 2020 while addressing the Nation on Ghana’s update response against the Coronavirus pandemic.

He added that his April May and June salary should be channeled to the COVID-19 fund by the Controller and Accountant General.

According to the president’s speech, former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo had been selected as the chairperson of the independent board of trustees in charge of managing the COVID-19 fund, to receive contributions and donations from the public.

He also used this platform to acknowledge churches, financial institutions, and individuals who have already made donations to assist in the fight against COVID-19
