Ghanaian Priests Mark Silver Jubilee In Grand Style

Must read

Twenty-Nine Ghanaian Priests ordained to the priesthood from the three provinces of Cape Coast, Accra and Kumasi in the West African country have marked their silver jubilee of Ordination at Koforidua Diocese.

Out of the 29, only 17 of them could jointly celebrate the Anniversary with a series of activities which started at Adoagyiri in Nsawam with Recollection and Mass and a visit to the graveside where two of their mates are buried.

Other activities such as visits to tourists places within the Eastern Region and climaxing with a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Francis of Assisi at New Tafo.

Rev. Fr. Nicholas Kwame Afriyie of the Goaso Diocese and a former Secretary-General of the National Catholic Secretariat, who spoke on behalf of the group said, since 1996, the group had been meeting yearly though not all of them were able to make it because of pastorals duties and others also working outside the country.

According to him, this year being their 25th anniversary, it is the first time 17 of them had come together to celebrate.

However, he said pastoral work could not permit all the 17 to stay for the closing Mass but only seven of them.

Fr. Afriyie said that, as silver jubilarians, they came together to thank God for all the He had done for them for the past 25 years in their ministries.

He stated that though it had not been rosy for the past years, God had been merciful in their lives, hence they need to give Him thanks and praise.

He said their coming together was also to share ideas as well as pray for their two mates whom God had called to heaven.
