Ghanaian SMI Sr. Claudia Jatoe Marks Silver Jubilee

The 25th anniversary of the profession of religious vows was marked by Sr. Claudia Jatoe, a member of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI) congregation at Daffiama in the Upper West Region.

The celebration took place during the closing Mass of the first set of retreaters for the year.

The Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., Bishop of Wa Diocese presided over the eucharistic celebration and co-celebrated by twenty other Diocesan and Religious Priests.

In his homily, Bishop Bomansaan called on all to rely on the complete and steadfastness of God in all that one undertakes.

Citing the Blessed Virgin Mary, he said despite her confusion and frustration about conception placed God first before her sight and her hope in the faithfulness of God.

He urged the Sisters to emulate the Blessed Virgin Mary who while battling with her circumstances sang the magnificent and praised God, encouraging them to entrust their moments and situations to God who is always by their side.

“Be grateful to God for what you are and have as a special gift from God,” he added.

Sr. Jatoe in thanksgiving to God for the years of unconditional love, for the journey so far, sang her own composed magnificent to the amazement of all present.

She prayed that having light as her symbol of her religious journey, her light should shine to all she come across and that her light in the years ahead in the years ahead will continue to shine within her soul, guiding her ways.

Sr, Christina Pogbeyir, SMI, the Superior General received her renewed evangelical vow of obedience, chastity and poverty.

Present to grace the occasion were some sisters and family members of Sr Jatoe.
