His Eminence Richard Cardinal Kuuia Baawobr, Bishop of Wa, Ghana has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians and all well wishers for their continuous prayers and love leading to being discharged from hospital after undergoing a heart-related surgery in Rome.
“Richard Cardinal Kuuia Baawobr has asked me to thank everyone of you for your prayers. good wishes and every support,” Very Rev. Fr. Cornelius Naah Bayirinoba, Vicar General of Wa Diocese said in an “information update” to all Parishes, Institutions, Religious Communities and the lay faithful of the Wa Diocese.
“He takes nothing for granted and reassures us of his closeness in prayer,” the November 19 “information update” stated.
On November 18, 2022, the Cardinal was discharged from Agostino Gemelli University Hospital/Policlinic where he had been transferred on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
According to an information update from the Wa Diocese in Ghana, “The Cardinal is now staying at the Generalate of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) in Rome.”
“He is there to rest and to regain his strength,” the information update added
On August 27, Pope Francis called for prayers for Ghanaian Cardinal Richard Kuuia Baawobr who was said to have taken ill upon his arrival in Rome for a Consistory officially creating new cardinals for the Church.
“..Richard Cardinal Kuuia Baawobr who since his arrival in Rome fell ill and has been hospitalised with problems of the heart and it seems he may need to have surgery. Let’s remember him as well,” Pope Francis said.
