Ghana’s Emeritus Archbishop Sarpong’s “Musico Liturgical Cultural Troupe” Entertains Sister Communicators

Must read

Upon the invitation of the Most Rev. Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Ghanaian Metropolitan Archbishop Emeritus of Ghana’s Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, some Religious Women Communicators in Ghana who participated in a Media training, were treated to his profound hospitality as the Archbishop’s Musico Liturgical Cultural Troupe entertained the Sisters and facilitators to some melodious songs  at his residence at Santase.

The twenty Religious Sisters representing ten Women Congregations across the country were ecstatic to have been invited again by the 91-year old retired Archbishop, who had served as a Prelate of the Church in Ghana since 1970.

The May 13, 2024 visit was a memorable one as the Sisters were amazed at his profound hospitality. Emeritus Archbishop, who marked his 91st birthday on February 6, is a lover of music and traditional choral music for that matter.

He has groomed his own choir and they were invited to entertain the Sisters, who could not remain in their seats as the melodious songs moved all to dance and praise God for the life of the Archbishop.

The Archbishop Emeritus was seen prompting and directing the choir director in selecting tunes to the admiration of all.

The Archbishop keenly enquired of the various communities of Sisters and presented them with his two latest books: “Virtues” and “The Young and the Old Priest”.

He extended his generosity to the facilitators of the Sisters by presenting them with copies each.

The Sisters were in Kumasi for a 9-day Conrad Hilton Foundation funded Media Training Project to equip them with skills and knowledge in the use of all modern means of social communications to evangelise and to tell their own stories.

The Sisters and their facilitators from Global Newswatch Media and Communications, who are Media Partners of the Conference of Major Superiors -Ghana (CMSR-GH), exchanged pleasantries with the Archbishop Emeritus and sung songs to honour him.

Sr. Cecilia Afari, SMMC, the Media Project Coordinator of the Sister Communicators, who led the Sisters thanked Archbishop Sarpong for his kind invitation, a gesture the Sisters indeed appreciated.

Prayers were offered for him to be in good health and his household to continue to be a home to all.
