Speaking at a brief ceremony, Vice-Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council, (PPC), Mrs. Cecilia Senoo, expressed delight at what she described as an opportunity for the Church to contribute to the healing of persons who seek medical care at the facility as well as strengthen ties between the Church and the facility.

She said, “Most parishioners live around and use this facility as well as the Church since it brings emergency situations on Sundays and that the hospital does not hesitate to assist. It was therefore expedient to help to support their works.”

“We at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Taifa believe that in addition to impacting the human soul and spirit, we must also affect our community positively,” she added.

For his part, Rev. Fr. Joseph Arthur, Parish Priest of the Church community indicated that the Parish has a pastoral commitment to the facility because it falls under its jurisdiction.

He prayed that the many patients that use the bedsheets and items, may recover fast from their illness. He encouraged the hospital to keep the close collaboration with the Church since the hospital handles the physical and, the Church also handles the spiritual aspect of the wellbeing of the people.

He, however, made a passionate appeal to the hospital to keep a close relationship with the Parish such as organising the Catholics in the hospital to join the Parish during various celebrations such as Christmas among others.

He also said the Church can be called to administer ashes, anoint the sick and give communion to members as well as others in critical need.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital, the Deputy Chief Health Administrator, Mrs. Bridget Amy Zaukuu, expressed appreciation to the Church for the continuous support, noting that, the donation will facilitate the smooth running of the hospital.
