Give Meaningful Names to Children- Catholic Priest Advises Parents

Must read

A Ghanaian Catholic Priest has advised parents of the West African Country to endeavour to give good and meaningful names that would have positive impacts on their children.

Fr. Daniel Attipoe, the Assistant Parish Priest of Ss. Anne and Joachim at Teshie was speaking at the naming and baptism of the newly born baby girl of Mr. Robert Dela Yao Mawuenyegah, the Executive Director of Global NewsWatch Media and Communications Ltd, managers of online news portal newswatchgh.com.

The ceremony, held at the Teshie Parish on May 31, the feast of the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth, was attended by many well-wishers including Dr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, the Council Chair of the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ).

Fr. Attipoe said it was important for parents to avoid giving names to their children, which could likely have future repercussions on them.
He prayed for the newly named and baptised child, Karen-Marie Selatornam Adzo Mawunyegah and the parents, hoping that they would help the little baby grow in the love, stature and fear of God.

In a homily to mark the feast of the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth, Fr. Attipoe urged the faithful emulate Mary’s humility by changing their hearts.

“When seeking something from God, we should ensure that our hearts are pure and clean,” adding that “when your heart is clean, God blesses you bountifully. God looks at our hearts while men look at our appearance.”

He, therefore, entreated Catholics to have clean hearts devoid of envy, jealousy, vindictiveness, gossips, backbiting, anger and malice.
