As the world continues to battle Coronavirus, countries are employing several means in educating the public on measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) is partnering the Globe Productions to educate the public on Coronavirus through a stage play to be streamed online.
The play dubbed the ”COVID -19 Edition of Thank God For Idiots,” is set to be screened on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 8:00pm on various social media platforms.
The play according to the organisers is aimed at reinforcing education about the symptoms and preventive measures of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)pandemic. It is also to inspire, entertain and encourage viewers to abide by the WHO and MOH’s stay home campaign.
A statement signed by President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr. Roland Affail Monney sighted by Newswatchgh.com said ”The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and Playwright, Latif Abubakar’s Globe Productions is set to reach and engage an estimated one million Ghanaians by streaming one of the playwrights play via some selected social media portals.”
The statement further explained that the move is ”In partnership with the Ministries of Information (MoI) and Health (MoH), the Chamber of Telecommunications and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).”
Ghana’s current COVID-19 case count is now 1,671.
According to Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Aboagye, some 121 additional cases have added up to the old tally of 1,550.
At the Ministry of Information’s press briefing on the country’s COVID-19 situation, Dr. Aboagye said the increments in the case count was as a result of the enhanced contact tracing among others.
Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries has reached 188 with 16 others succumbing to the virus.
